Reynolds Number Calculator

Reynolds number for pipe-like flows using Re = V D / ν with kinematic viscosity ν in m²/s. Helps classify laminar vs turbulent expectations when combined with geometry and roughness context.

Hoe te gebruiken

  1. 1Enter mean velocity, inside diameter, and kinematic viscosity.
  2. 2Optionally start from a water reference viscosity order-of-magnitude, then edit for your fluid and temperature.
  3. 3Read Re as a dimensionless group for regime discussion.

Veelgestelde vragen

Can I use dynamic viscosity instead?
Convert with ν = μ/ρ first, or use an equivalent formulation. This UI expects kinematic viscosity in SI.
Does a single Re value guarantee laminar or turbulent flow?
No. Transition depends on geometry, disturbances, and roughness; Re is one indicator, not a full stability analysis.
